If you are indeed “On the Road Again” with your band or your speaking engagement, you are going to want a good set of powered PA speakers. Powered speakers give you all that you need to put on a show. Having this equipment means skipping the extra pieces that you would have to add. It also means an end to any extra cables or wiring.

You will not need a separate amplifier or mixer. Depending on which model that you buy, you can also get a built in microphone. So, if convenience is important to you or you have limited space, consider a powered system.

Powered PA Speakers take the guess work out of putting together a proper combination of speakers. They are factory matched so that your tweeter and woofer will work together. The convenience of these speakers has lead to their popularity, which has caused manufacturers to develop more sophisticated systems to compete.

These systems are now competing with rack systems despite having limited flexibility.Powered speakers can also augment your current system by acting as monitors.

Your powered PA speaker system should suit your needs. The first choice would be sound quality. Make sure that the system works whether you will be using it for music or speaking. The next consideration would be size. You should be able to transport your system wherever you are going, but, at the same time, you want to get as much sound as you can.

You can find powered PA speakers from the top speaker makers. Yamaha Pro Audio has a full line of PA systems that will fit
your budget. JBL Speakers has everything from 12 inch ultralight which deliver top sound without taking up a lot of room to
the value driven EON 315 which is also lightweight. Peavey makes a more affordable line of speakers as does M-Audio.

Bose has taken the powered speaker in a whole other direction, making it part of their home systems. Whatever direction you are going in, read the reviews and make sure that the style works for you.

The proper speaker system may not make your concert or presentation, but it certainly can make it bad. We all go to
presentations or concerts where sound systems fail and everything crashes around it. A good Powered PA Speaker system can
alleviate any anxiety. Do not leave anything to chance, do your homework and get the system that will compete with anything
a good sound engineer can put together.

There's a lot to consider when shopping for PA systems. What's best for you? That's a question that only you can really answer, but there are some considerations that are common to whatever system you opt for. This article explores the things you should look out for when choosing a PA, or public address, system.

1. Arguably, the microphone is the most important part of the system to consider. If every other component of the system is top notch, but the microphone is cheap and nasty, the sound quality will be equally poor.

Get a unidirectional microphone of high quality if just one person will be using it, or an omnidirectional microphone if several people will be using it simultaneously. And of course, getting several unidirectional microphones for several people to use simultaneously also works well.

2. The mixer should be considered next. The mixer's job is to route and mix the various audio signals generated within the system. Each component or device will have its own channel, so the mixer needs to be able to accommodate all the devices you have, and perhaps be able to expand in the future whenever you need it to.

3. The amplifier takes the signals generated in the system and amplifies them. A poor quality amplifier will amplify the signals badly and distort the sound. That is why you should choose a non-distorting signal amplifier. Also consider the power you require. If your amplifier doesn't have enough power to cope it will distort the sound.

4. PA systems would be useless without speakers. This is where the sound emits. Good speakers will reproduce the sound signals faithfully, and the reverse is of course also true. The number of speakers you will have is another thing you should consider.

Give consideration to where the system will be used. If it is a small space, then gigantic powerful speakers will be overkill and deafen everyone. Conversely, inadequate speakers, or too few speakers, will not have what it takes to faithfully reproduce the sound quality and volume needed in a large space.

5. While it is not strictly speaking a component of PA systems, the cabling you use to connect everything together is also very important. It may seem obvious, but make sure that you only use cables designed for audio use. This will mean that the cables are the optimum quality for what you need.

You should also avoid thin, flimsy cables. They may be easier to handle and take up less storage space, but they will also be less able to cope. Go for strength and sturdiness; cables can take a lot of wear and tear over the years. Get ones designed for audio that look like they will last the course.

PA systems are of course manufactured by many different companies. Some are well known and popular, while some are perhaps best forgotten. When choosing your system, choose components that are proven to be reliable. You can choose the individual components separately from different manufacturers, matching up the best or you can choose from the many all-in-one PA systems. Either way, choose carefully and you will have a sound system that will last you for many years.

If you are currently mulling over the prospect of procuring a PA system for any reason then one of the big choices that you will have to make is whether not not to go wireless. Why go with a wireless system and what are the benefits? Well, to start with they require no cables which really is a no brainier but the fact is that depending on what you are going to be using it for, this can be a major or a minor consideration.

If you have never set up and taken down a PA system than you have never had to deal with cables and the fact is that they can be a major problem, particularly in a larger venue. In a larger venue cables often have to be taped to the floor and this can be be a problem if the floor is carpeted. Also, cables are notorious for being problematic and are prone to having shorts in them.

Another thing to consider is convenience. This particularly holds true in a smaller venue such as a smaller assembly where you really won't want to spend the time connecting speakers and microphones. In this type of situation, a wireless PA system allows a person to step right up and begin speaking and in fact there are many smaller portable compact wireless PS systems that can be held in one hand.

Portability is another factor to consider. With a wireless PA system because there are no cables to disconnect, so once the gig is over the system can be quickly and easily retrieved and packed up without having to run down and roll up cables. This can be a big deal because you have to remember that not everyone is always ready to leave when you are.
